Who We Are

The Center for Peace and Social Solutions (CPSS) is a local, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting sustainable peace, social cohesion, and justice in Somalia. With a presence across Puntland, Jubaland, Galmudug, and South West states, CPSS works tirelessly to bridge divides in conflict-affected communities through peacebuilding initiatives, education, and advocacy.

Founded as a youth-led initiative, CPSS is legally registered under the Ministry of Planning, Economic Development & International Cooperation (MOPEDIC), the Ministry of Labor, Youth, and Sports, the Ministry of Security & DDR, and the Ministry of Education. We collaborate closely with both local authorities and international partners to foster a culture of peace in Somali society.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower communities, particularly youth, women, and marginalized groups, by equipping them with the skills, knowledge, and tools they need to become active agents of peace. Through a holistic approach that integrates education, advocacy, and community engagement, we strive to transform conflict-ridden communities into spaces of dialogue, reconciliation, and cooperative development.

Our mission is grounded in the following principles:

  • Building Capacities for Peace: We aim to strengthen local capacities for conflict resolution, peaceful mediation, and reconciliation. Through targeted training programs and workshops, we empower individuals to resolve disputes within their communities and promote lasting peace.

  • Youth Empowerment: Recognizing the pivotal role of young people in shaping the future, we focus on providing leadership training, mentorship, and platforms for youth voices to be heard in both community and government decision-making processes.

  • Promoting Inclusivity and Social Cohesion: We are committed to creating an inclusive society where all individuals, regardless of their gender, ethnicity, or socioeconomic background, are valued and have the opportunity to contribute to the peacebuilding process. We actively work to break down barriers between conflicting groups through dialogue, shared activities, and reconciliation efforts.

  • Advocating for Justice and Human Rights: We believe in the protection and promotion of human rights as essential to peace. Our mission includes advocating for the rights of marginalized groups, victims of conflict, and those suffering from injustice, ensuring their voices are represented in peace processes.

  • Strengthening Governance: We work closely with local and national authorities to build stronger governance structures that are accountable, transparent and respons-ive to the needs of their communities. By strengthening the relationship between civil society and government, we aim to create more effective peacebuilding policies.

At the Center for Peace and Social Solutions (CPSS), our vision is to foster a society where sustainable peace thrives, underpinned by justice, inclusiveness, and quality education. We envision a Somalia where communities once divided by conflict are now united in cooperation, where all citizens—especially youth and marginalized groups—have the opportunity to shape the future of their society.

In our envisioned future:

  • Peace is Sustainable: We see a country where peace is maintained through strong community ties, continuous dialogue, and non-violent conflict resolution practices.

  • Justice Prevails: We believe peace cannot exist without justice. Our vision includes equitable access to legal systems, protection of human rights, and a society where every individual, regardless of background or status, is treated with fairness and respect.

  • Youth as Leaders: We are working toward a future where youth are not just participants, but leaders in decision-making processes—driving initiatives that contribute to social cohesion, economic development, and long-term stability.

  • Gender Equality is a Reality: We envision a world where women are equally represented in all aspects of governance and peacebuilding, with full participation in decision-making and leadership roles.

  • Education is Key: We see quality education as the foundation for lasting peace, fostering a new generation of informed, compassionate, and empowered citizens who actively contribute to conflict resolution and societal well-being.
